Won't You Help Support DayPoems?

It doesn't take a fortune-teller to know that you like poetry.

Perhaps like is too mild a term. You adore poetry, you build your life around it, you dream in iambic pentameter, or fly through the night in verse libre. It must be so, for that is the mark of DayPoems explorer.

Click on the Donate button to begin supporting DayPoems right away using a PayPal account. If you don't have a PayPal account, you'll be given a chance to open one. It is a great way to handle money on the World Wide Web.

Or if you prefer, you can donate by sending cash or a check via regular postal services to this address:

Why DayPoems is different

A venue like DayPoems, with tens of thousands of lines of verse, ever-changing, ever-growing, doesn't happen by magic. It takes time and money to bring such a large and diverse collection of poetry to the Web.

DayPoems has no institutional parent, no academic ties. It is supported by people who love poetry, as a place for sharing our art.

DayPoems is different from other poetry sites. We don't lead you through endless menus to find a fanciful poem. With DayPoems, you need not know the destination--exploring the verse on a random path is itself the goal.

In the DayPoems universe, old classics and exciting new poems live together, side by side, in a sparkling amalgram that shows where poetry has been and where it is going now.

Sometimes, sharing poetry is not enough. Sometimes, it takes a sharing of prosaic cash to keep the poetry flowing.

Poetry makes a difference

More than 10,000 readers visit DayPoems each week. A glance at the DayPoems logs shows, in cold computer-speak, what poetry means to them.

There are, for example, the public school students at Bess Elkhart school in Indiana, and in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, and in Brockton, Montana and in hundreds of other cities and towns around the planet who do research on DayPoems for their homework.

There are also college students at Rutgers, Northwestern, Massachussetts Institute of Technology, University of California-Davis, Princeton and the University of Tulsa, and many more institutions of higher learning in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and beyond the English world in places such as Taiwan.

Or the seekers on Google in search of the right poem:

  • A recent Australian reader on a government system who sought "passing away poems" and discovered verse of comfort by Christina Georgina Rossetti.
  • The AOL subscriber who typed "At the mid-night hour of night" into a search form and found a marvelous poem by Sir Thomas Moore.
  • The Canadian reader, seeking verse on the obscure topic of "squills", who ended up at precisely a poem on the subject by Sara Teasdale.

DayPoems is making a difference in their lives, just as it does in yours.
