Won't you help support DayPoems? A Plea To EvolutionBy William Brendan McPhillips21st CenturyIf evolution has an ear, I pray It hears, I trust, it's obvious to us, I saw it, curiously, just today, And tried to fathom, why the octopus? Receptions, cocktail parties, coffee hour, All complicated venues made to pay The cleaners mortgage, relish, sweet and sour, And dips to drip, and chips that break away. And now a black thorn cane to poke and stick Whomever dares be near me when I bend To stab a reaching finger with tooth pick, And wonder under whom, tomatoes end: Oh Evolution! Do us all a treat, Another hand, or two, but skip the feet. DayPoems Poem No. 2454 Comment on DayPoems? If you are like us, you have strong feelings about poetry, and about each poem you read.
