Won't you help support DayPoems? It Was The WrathBy William Brendan McPhillips21st CenturyThe darker days of Summer shade give way To gaps among the branches, leaf left, space For light to reach my retina, its ray A welcome guest against the loss of grace. They say it is the truth we mangle first, In war, as well as beauty, yet the light Of Autumn here denies the soul the thirst For vengeance, knowing vengeance will not right. Not even God can make it so, the pain Inflicted by intention violates Creation's purpose, motive, all the gain, And no recourse to anger validates The wrath of God, of man, of woman, now When we see what the darkness will allow.
