Our Swords Of Steel

By William Brendan McPhillips

21st Century

Lay down, lay down your swords of steel.
Lay down your guns of vengeance real.
Lay down your words of anger, feel
The grief and anguish children feel.

We can forgive.
We can forget.
We can go on
When we can let

Our swords of steel
Turn red, with rust;
Our guns of vengeance
Cease their thrust;
Our words of anger
Fall, like dust.
