Reproach
21st Century
Borne upon an aura of bliss the angel sings.
Then with scornful words you'll clip her wings.
Buy her a diamond ring and hope they grow back.
Hope it makes up for the love you lack.
Rip the muscle and tear sinew,
with my words, flesh shall be made anew.
Echoes of her heartbeat ring in my ears.
What I wouldn't give to follow her throughout the years.
Bruises may leave an ugly mark,
but it's nothing compared to what's left in the dark.
