What Once Was

By Paul McCann

21st Century

T'was twenty years ago, when life was slow and easy in Belfast -- before the barricades where built.

Along the way our doors shut out love- and now we've all become locked in a fight! Too much blood was spilt!

We crawl like cripple's through troubled walls of fear, plucking lives from the rubble and some love from the fear.

Life's a nightmare on these streets but we've built our hopes together through the echoes that once were here dear.
