Shadow Dancer

By Jennifer Concetta

21st Century

Everything was spinning in a purple haze
Crimson hair color and midnight blue shoes
Mountains of ice tower over the sky
As the trees' all formed a half way to an outlandish maze
Daffodils, roses, oaks, sassafras, and bamboo
They called out to the gathering clouds until they cried
Voices strained with pain as they reach out to the sun
Never touching anyone
They hold back as their stems sway in the wind
Bending and then twisting
They dream of being taken to a cloud covered passion
For without this memory
The Earth would seem hollow
Never drinking from it's water
Remaining in the shadow
