Passage(1) Children Of The Middle Passage

By Brother De Buff

21st Century

Shores of Africa
filled with screams
of those not weaned yet
from
mother's milk
small bundles
holding to mother's limb
push
and
shoved, chained
children of the middle passage
will you only
know pain
your growth aborted
no warmth
only damp, cold rank
surrounding air of death
what is given
in answer to your cry
the lashes of pain
comfort of denial
the breath of death
chill of cold wave
cover the soul
and escapes
no chain will bind
open your heart
hear our children
carried from Africa shore
weeping in winds of time
